At Witton Park High School Business and EnterpriseCollege we believe that all children are special and that the curriculum should meet the needs of all students regardless of ability, culture or background. Parental involvement is an integral part of addressing an individual students needs.
We endeavour to identify special educational needs at as early a stage as possible and to provide appropriate support in terms of resources and teacher time.
School Action Plus is the second stage, where resources, in addition to those provided by the school, are introduced to further support individual pupils. This expertise is carefully focused upon pupils’ specific needs.
Throughout the process the progress of pupils is carefully monitored, involving students, parents and teachers. Individual learning targets are established through Individual Education Plans.
Learning Mentors work alongside identified pupils, to motivate and encourage high achievement. Enrichment activities are provided for pupils identified as gifted and talented.
At WittonPark we are proud to be able to offer access to students with physical disabilities. Ramps are provided to all entrances and exits and a lift in the North Wing enables access to be given to both floors of the building. Toilet facilities have also been adapted.
School Action is the first stage, where the school endeavours to meet the needs of the child. This is achieved through in-class support provided by well-qualified, highly motivated, trained staff. They aim to provide challenging work, appropriate to the needs of the child.
