Rewards

· The school aims to promote high standards of behaviour, self-discipline and learning through positive encouragement and rewards.
· When you do something well your teacher will recognise this by speaking to you in class, writing comments on your work and awarding you high grades for attainment and effort.
· Outstanding effort or achievement may be rewarded through the school Recognition of Achievement Scheme.
· Merits earned in this way contribute to the award of certificates, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
· If you receive a significant number of 1’s for effort on your school report you will meet with your HOY and the Headteacher.
· Success will also be celebrated in assemblies.
Punishment

· If you fail to meet the required high standard of behaviour then you should expect to be punished.
· You may be kept in detention for 10 minutes at break and after school without notice.
· If your behaviour continues to be unacceptable, your class teacher will arrange for you to attend a 20 minute lunchtime detention.
· If the poor behaviour persists you will be asked to work in another classroom.
· Failure to attend the lunchtime detention will mean one hour detention after school.
· Your parents will receive 24 hours written notice explaining the reason.
· You may also be placed ‘On Report’.  Each teacher will write a comment after every lesson and the report card will be checked by the Head of Year.
· This is also taken home each evening for your parents to sign each day.
· In serious cases you may be excluded from school for a period of time.
· You will be invited to come in with your parents to meet your Achievement Leader and another senior member of staff before being re-admitted.
· As a last resort, students may be permanently excluded from the school and the reasons notified to School Governors and the LEA.
Bullying
· Bullying can be verbal or physical and will not be tolerated by the school in any form whatsoever.
· If you are a victim of bullying, or if you observe incidents involving others, do not hesitate to inform a member of staff.
