Mrs S Bramwell year 9 Achievement Leader

I, together with the team of Year 9 form tutors will provide pastoral support and academic encouragement to your child this year.
Statistically it has been shown that student performance can dip in Year 9 as the novelty of secondary school wears off and GCSE’s seem a far away prospect. Your child has already been made aware that at Witton Park we aim to prove the statisticians wrong and help our students make continued progress through lower school, building a secure foundation for GCSE success. The school enjoyed its best ever GCSE results in summer 2009 which has set a new benchmark for our students to reach and surpass.

I recognise that parents want the reassurance of knowing that their child’s school will act promptly and effectively to provide and maintain a safe, welcoming and challenging learning environment for students. I will always endeavour to make this the case at Witton Park.
You can help our students, your children, make Year 9 a success by supporting the school’s discipline policies, ensuring your child wears the correct uniform, brings the necessary equipment, and has the maximum possible attendance.
Those statisticians inform us that poor attendance and punctuality dramatically reduce a student’s chances of exam success. I expect every child if possible to achieve 95% or more attendance.

I believe every child has the right to fulfil their potential, that every teacher has the right to teach and that both of these are achievable when students respect the facilities and learning environment provided for them.
You can rest assured that Witton Park will not allow student success or teaching quality to be compromised.

I expect our Year 9 students to provide me with ample opportunity to involve parents and the school community in celebrating academic, sporting and cultural success in this academic year 2009-10. I look forward to contacting as many parents as possible over the coming year to congratulate them on their child’s success.

The future is bright, the future is our children.
